A rare and sculptural sterling silver pitcher by Georg Jensen, design #319A by Harald Nielsen, circa 1928.

Harald Nielsen, Georg Jensen’s brother-in-law and one of the defining voices of the firm’s Art Deco period, brought a cleaner, more streamlined sensibility to the workshop’s hollowware, and this pitcher is a fine example of that vision. The full, pear-shaped body is entirely hand-hammered, its softly planished surface catching the light with a subtle shimmer that only handwork can produce. The rim rises into an elegant, upswept spout that folds back over the shoulder like a leaf, flowing seamlessly into a slender, open scroll handle with a delicately curled upper terminal. The body rests on a stepped circular pedestal foot, giving the piece a poised, almost organic silhouette.
