Georg Jensen Pair of Large Sterling Silver Lidded Tureens #408A
A pair of extraordinary monumental vintage Danish sterling silver Georg Jensen oval tureens design #408A by Georg Jensen in 1921. The remarkable feature of these tureens is their large size, which commands attention. Each tureen is crafted with a spacious oval base resting on an oval foot. Gracing opposite sides of the tureens are generous clusters of grapes, serving as elegant handles. The lids of the tureens are adorned with a large domed shape, embellished with a grape vine motif and intricately hand-chased florals, which also act as handles for lifting. One of the most appealing aspects of this design is Jensen’s deliberate restraint in ornamentation, embodying a captivating minimalist interpretation of the art nouveau style. This characteristic makes these tureens highly coveted among collectors.
