Vintage Georg Jensen Box by Johan Rohde

Vintage 830 silver box originally made for Danish Company DFDS (Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab: The United Steamship Company), design by Johan Rohde. These boxes were made as gifts for the 50th anniversary of the company, most were made in brass, only a few were produced in silver, no doubt for senior management.
Measures 8 5/8″ x 5½” x 4″ (22cm x 14cm x 10cm).
Vintage Georg Jensen hallmarks and date mark for 1919.

Engraved under the lid –

“1866.11 DECEMBER.1916 TIL MINDE OM DET FORENEDE DAMPSKIBS-SELSKABS 50 AARIGE STIFTELSESDAG” (IN MEMORY OF DFDS 50TH ANNIVERSARY).

All our items have been professionally polished by our Georg Jensen trained silversmith and are in excellent condition.
