Very Rare Georg Jensen Mid-Century Sterling Silver Chafing Dish With Cover 1055

A very sought after and rare Georg Jensen sterling silver chafing dish, cover and stand, design by Magnus Stephensen from circa 1956. The cover has rattan-wrapped handles. Ingenious design, the handles of the dish fit over the stand, which is lightly sprung, holding the dish in place. The burner is removable, a handle protrudes from each side, the handles are shaped so the burner fits onto the stand. The central wick holder is removable, so fuel can be filled into the burner.

Measures 11½” (29.2 cm) in length including the handles, the actual dish is 8 3/4″ x 6½” (22.5cm x 16.6cm). Total height 5 3/4″ (14.5cm). Gross weight 59oz (1,675g).

Marked underneath with vintage 1945-1977 Georg Jensen hallmarks, indicating the piece was produced between 1956-1977.
