Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Tray #88
An early Georg Jensen 830 silver Art Nouveau tray, design #88 by Georg Jensen. A substantial hand crafted tray with wide curved rim and hand hammered surface. The rim is decorated with intricate hand chased intertwining vines and six strands of small floral motifs, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship associated with Georg Jensen’s early works. The flowing organic lines and naturalistic decoration are characteristic of the Art Nouveau movement and represent some of Jensen’s finest early silver designs.
This very early tray was produced during the height of Georg Jensen’s artistic period and demonstrates the extraordinary level of handwork required to create such a large piece. The extensive hand hammering strengthens the silver while giving the surface a rich texture that reflects light beautifully. A rare and highly collectible tray that combines sculptural elegance with practical functionality.
