Rare Georg Jensen Centerpiece #1293A by Alev Siesbye

This is a rarely seen sterling silver modern Georg Jensen centerpiece, design #1293A by Alev Siesbye.

Born in Turkey, Alev Ebüzziya Siesby studied at Istanbul Art Academy and became a very well known ceramicist. In 1963 she moved to Copenhagen and worked for Royal Copenhagen Porcelain, in the 1980’s Georg Jensen translated some of her designs into silver. Siesbye’s designs are very Mediterranean in form and typically have a very small and largely invisible foot, giving the piece an illusion of elevation.
