Monumental Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Jardinière 489

An exceptionally rare, extra-large, and heavy sterling silver Georg Jensen oval jardinière/wine cooler, design #489 by Georg Jensen, created in 1926. This piece is one of Jensen’s later designs, produced shortly after his time living in Paris from 1925 to 1926. The substantial bowl features a gracefully curving, thick oval shape reminiscent of a boat’s hull. Its octagonal base supports a large oval midsection adorned with relief decorations of oak leaves and acorns.

Exhibiting masterful craftsmanship, the piece displays subtle hand-hammered details and a finely profiled rim, which would have required a high level of skill to produce. Given its size, design, and rarity, this is a true collector’s item.
