Monumental Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Fish Dish Cover Rohde #335C
A Large and Important Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Fish Platter and Cover, Design #335C by Johan Rohde.
An exceptional and monumental serving piece by Johan Rohde for Georg Jensen, design no. 335C, originally conceived circa 1919. This rare ensemble exemplifies Rohde’s early mastery of sculptural naturalism and refined craftsmanship.
Of elegant oval form, the platter is fitted with shell-form handles and a removable mazarine, delicately pierced with a diaper pattern and centered by a sculptural fish. The domed cover is crowned with an elaborate finial composed of two opposing fish entwined with shells and clusters of grapes, surmounted by a central ring handle.
A richly hand-chased scalloped border frames the finial, highlighting the extraordinary level of detail and artistry synonymous with early Georg Jensen silver. The composition balances functional design with dramatic decorative presence, making it both a practical serving piece and a striking centerpiece.
The platter, mazarine, and cover are all marked with Georg Jensen hallmarks used between 1945 and 1977.
