Monumental A. Dragsted Centerpiece
This is a monumental silver centerpiece bowl with Mercury standing atop a central Corinthian column decorated with a ring of children. The edges of the bowl are pierced, some sections decorated with two hands shaking and on opposing sides a coat of arms with three lions topped by a crown. The bowl is mounted on a wooden base, the mountings are cast animal heads.
Measures 25½” in total height, the bowl has a diameter of 12 5/8″ (64.5cm, 32cm).
Hallmarked “A. Dragsted Kjobenhavn”, topped by a crown denoting that Dragsted were purveyors to the Royal Danish Court. Also marked with Three Towers hallmark for 1915 and the Assay mark for C. F. Heise, who was the Assay officer from 1904-1932. Three Towers silver at this time was minimum 830 silver.
