Kay Fisker Sterling Silver Large Tea Caddy
A museum-quality tea caddy, designed in 1926 by renowned architect Kay Fisker for the prestigious Danish silversmith A. Michelsen. This six-sided caddy showcases decorative oxidized etchings inspired by Japanese metalwork and features a minimalist lid with a slender bar handle. Fisker, known for his architectural innovations in functionalism, began collaborating with Poul Michelsen in 1920. His architectural style marked a departure from the ornate Art Nouveau, favoring a neoclassical restraint that earned him numerous accolades, making his early works highly collectible.
What makes this tea caddy exceptionally rare is its 1929 hallmark, potentially making it the first in its series. Additionally, very few pieces of this design were ever produced, further enhancing its rarity.
