Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Vase 465

A striking example of early 20th-century Danish silversmithing, this vintage sterling silver vase was designed by Gundorph Albertus for Georg Jensen in 1926 (design no. 465).

This sophisticated piece features a ten-sided, fluted column form. Each panel is hand-chased with an elegant shell motif and adorned with clusters of three to four silver beads—hallmarks of Albertus’s refined decorative style. The base echoes the same ten-sided design, tapering upward into a band of pearl-like silver beading, creating a beautiful sense of movement and texture.

A highlight of this piece is the organic, berry-like bulb form at the bottom—entirely hand-crafted and exceptionally difficult to fabricate, underscoring the superior craftsmanship of Georg Jensen’s silversmiths. The top is finished with an applied rim, reinforcing the structure while maintaining clean lines and balanced proportions.

This vase is not only a decorative object but also a testament to Georg Jensen’s legacy of timeless design and artisanal excellence.
