Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Trio of Centerpiece bowls

A trio of impressive sterling silver Georg Jensen centerpiece bowls designed by Johan Rohde in 1917.

Monumental “Kings Bowl” (Design #250A):

This centerpiece, originally crafted for King Gustav V of Sweden, is a magnificent example of early 20th-century silver craftsmanship. The bowl stands at an impressive 15 3/4 inches in height and boasts a diameter of 17 1/2 inches (approximately 40cm by 44cm). The design features a hammered pedestal base adorned with a delightful combination of floral and scrollwork. At its heart lies an oxidized floral centerpiece, encircled by a hand-hammered, sizeable sculptural bowl. This piece, affectionately dubbed the “Kings Bowl,” is the largest in its collection, weighing a substantial 4914 grams (equivalent to 173 ounces). Very early Georg Jensen hallmarks dating from 1925 to 1932.

“Queens Bowl” (Design #250B):

The second largest in the design collection, this splendid centerpiece stands 13 inches tall and has a diameter of 14 1/4 inches (approximately 32cm by 36cm). Similar to the “Kings Bowl,” it features a hammered pedestal base embellished with intricate floral and scrollwork. At its center is an oxidized floral motif, encircled by a hand-hammered sculptural bowl. Affectionately known as the “Queens Bowl,” this piece exudes grandeur and weighs 2768 grams. Early  Georg Jensen hallmarks dating from 1925 to 1932. It is positioned as the second largest bowl in its collection, showcased prominently in the second image on the left.

“Princess Bowl” (Design #252):

This charming compote, also designed by Johan Rohde, is known as the “Princess” bowl. It features a hammered pedestal base adorned with floral and scrollwork, typical of Rohde’s classic design aesthetic. At the center of the bowl is an oxidized floral centerpiece, surrounded by a hand-hammered sculptural bowl. The openwork stem of the compote is delicately decorated with leaves, berries, and scrolls, adding a graceful touch to the overall design. The “Princess Bowl” measures 9 inches in height with a 10-inch diameter (23cm, 25.6cm) and weighs 1490 grams (52.55 oz.). It bears vintage Georg Jensen hallmarks dating from 1945 to 1977 and is positioned as the smallest bowl in the second image, located in the center.
