Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Table Bell 496
An Extremely Rare Georg Jensen Table Bell Design by Harald Nielsen, c. 1920s.
This exceptional and seldom-seen Georg Jensen table bell—known in Danish as a gong gong—was designed by Harald Nielsen in the 1920s. A striking example of early Jensen craftsmanship, the piece consists of three individual components: a removable silver disk that forms the resonant gong, an elegant ebony hammer, and the sculptural silver frame that supports the ensemble. Nielsen’s refined Art Deco sensibility is evident in the gong’s balanced, architectural silhouette. Originally created as a discreet and elegant way to call for assistance in private homes or offices, the gong gong also serves beautifully today as a commanding centerpiece for boardrooms, meetings, and assemblies. Crafted with Jensen’s characteristic attention to detail and exceptional material quality, examples of this design are extremely rare and highly sought after by collectors of early Georg Jensen works.
