Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Swan Pitcher 1052 Henning Koppel
An impressive early extra-large Georg Jensen sterling silver pitcher, design #1052 by Henning Koppel, introduced in 1956. Widely regarded as one of Koppel’s most iconic creations, this sculptural pitcher perfectly embodies the elegance and innovation of Danish Modern design. Please note this piece has pre1977 hallmarks, meaning it was produced from 1956-1977.
The pitcher features a striking elongated form with sweeping organic lines and a beautifully integrated oversized handle. One of its most distinctive features is the dramatic use of negative space within the handle. Considered controversial when introduced, Koppel intentionally exaggerated the opening to create a stronger three-dimensional appearance, allowing light and space to become part of the design itself.
Handcrafted in sterling silver, the surface reflects light beautifully, emphasizing the purity of form and exceptional craftsmanship. Both highly functional and decorative, this monumental example makes a dramatic centerpiece while remaining one of the most celebrated serving pieces produced by Georg Jensen.
This is the largest version of the design and is seldom encountered.
