Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Soren Georg Jensen Bowl 1133
The bowl exemplifies Søren Georg Jensen’s restrained modernist approach, with a beautifully proportioned hemispherical form raised on a simple cylindrical foot. Its clean, architectural lines are a distinct departure from the ornamented Art Nouveau silver of the earlier Georg Jensen period and make it particularly well suited to a modern interior. A substantial and highly functional piece, it works beautifully as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, or simply displayed on its own. Søren Georg Jensen (1917–1982), son of Georg Jensen, was a sculptor and silversmith whose designs helped move the Georg Jensen silversmithy toward the clean Scandinavian modernism of the postwar period.
