Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Salt and Pepper Set 1300

A set of three modern sterling silver Georg Jensen salt and pepper shakers, design no. 1300 by Verner Panton (1926–1998). Unlike later versions produced outside Denmark, these shakers were handcrafted at Georg Jensen in Denmark in 1988. Remarkably, all three pieces show no signs of use and remain in pristine, unused condition, with the original stoppers still sealed in their plastic bags.

The striking design features an elliptical base that tapers to a smaller, opposing opening at the top—an ingenious and highly sculptural form. The concept emphasizes reflection, using the polished silver surface to disperse artificial light and create a soft, natural ambiance within a home setting.

The set consists of three shakers: one salt shaker and two pepper shakers, intended for white and black pepper respectively.

Specifications (each):

  • Height: 3 in (7.8 cm)
  • Base diameter: 1½ in (3.8 cm)
  • Weight: Combined weight of all three: 232 grams (8.18 oz)
  • Hallmarks: Georg Jensen, VP, Sterling, Denmark, 1300, and date mark 010 (1988)
