Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Pitcher No.7 Melon Design Ebony Handle
A substantial Georg Jensen sterling silver pitcher with an ebony handle, design No. 7 by Georg Jensen, originally introduced in 1907. This iconic pattern is often referred to as the “Melon” design, a motif that was also used for other pieces in the series, including centerpieces, tea services, and trays.
The pitcher is hand-hammered and stands on a rounded, raised foot. The central body features hand-chased floral-inspired decoration, divided by melon-shaped vertical panels that give the design its distinctive character. The upper section retains the visible hand-hammered texture and is finished with a thick applied rim and a well-shaped spout, designed for a smooth, controlled pour.
The hand-carved ebony handle is sculpted to resemble a twisting vine, a hallmark of Art Nouveau styling, for which Georg Jensen is renowned. The pitcher has a solid, substantial weight that is immediately noticeable when lifted. It shows very little sign of use, and the hand-hammered surface remains clearly visible throughout.
