Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Modern Cruet Set 996
A rare Georg Jensen sterling silver mid-century cruet set, design #996, by Soren (Søren) Georg Jensen (1954). The set includes shakers and a mustard pot with blue enamel lining, featuring a tapered form with hand-chased, oxidized lines reminiscent of wire and inspired by African motifs. The design is likely influenced by Henning Koppel’s #978 pitcher from 1948. Each shaker displays exceptional craftsmanship and is no longer in production, with a round base and elongated neck.
The accompanying cruet tray is Søren Georg Jensen’s #965 design, likely paired with this set, as no tray was ever produced under design #996. The tray features a round form, elevated handle, and applied rim—an elegant work of art in its own right. Søren Georg Jensen, a sculptor renowned for his work in multiple materials including stone, infused this functional design with his artistic sensibility. The spoon, marked Georg Jensen, is designed by Ove Brobeck. This is a very rare set, with only a limited number produced.
