Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Henning Koppel Tea and Coffee set 1017
An early vintage sterling silver Mid-Century Georg Jensen tea and coffee set with handles of guaiacum (a South American hardwood), design #1017 by Henning Koppel from 1952. Awarded a gold medal at the Triennale in Milan 1954 and a permanent piece at many museums. A modern design, the only decoration being the handle. The teapot has a wonderful fat and wide design, extremely elegant and sleek. Both the teapot and coffee pot with hinged lids, a process very difficult even for a seasoned silversmith. The hallmarks on the entire set are pre 1977 and comparing the form of the tea and coffee pot to other sets, we would estimate this set to be the earliest we have owned. Fabrication on this very early set was done by hand.
