Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Grape Bowl/Basket 543

A Georg Jensen hand hammered sterling silver grape bowl/basket, design #543 by Harald Nielsen, designed in 1929. This richly decorated oval basket features a hand chased swing handle centered with a sculptural grape and floral motif. The curved oval basin is adorned with elaborate hand chased floral decoration, accented by two opposing grape clusters with stylized floral bulb details. The underside of the bowl displays extensive repoussé work, highlighting the extraordinary craftsmanship involved in its creation. More hours were devoted to the intricate chasing and decorative work than to the actual silversmithing, resulting in an exceptionally artistic and decorative piece ideal for both display and use in the home.
