Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Candlesticks 119

A pair of early Georg Jensen sterling silver candlesticks, design #119 by Georg Jensen, first introduced in 1917. These candlesticks feature exceptionally intricate hand-chased decoration, a detail that makes examples like this comparatively rare and seldom encountered on the open market.

The round, slightly hand-hammered base is decorated with Nordic-inspired oxidized etchings, while the columns carry matching hand-chased linear motifs. The sconces are richly ornamented with shell and oceanic designs, reflecting Denmark’s maritime heritage and abundant sea life. At the top, a double-rimmed candle cup with additional etching secures the candle firmly in place.

This design is considered rare, and the pair shows a slight variation in height, suggesting that the candlesticks were likely purchased at different times.
