Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Box 867

A rare art deco Georg Jensen sterling silver box, design #867 by Jørgen Jensen in 1938. Its double hinged construction is not just aesthetically pleasing but also functional. The base of the rectangular box rests on a rectangular frame. The body of the box is of rectangular form with both opposing sides rounded. The lid gracefully divides into two sections, each adorned with its own lid, meeting harmoniously in the center. Sporting hinges at each end, these lids offer easy access. Positioned at the box’s center, the handles feature a raised bar with turned in silversmith work making it accessible for fingertips. The lids of both boxes have the original hand chased floral motif. A seldom seen box that is heavy and of the highest quality craftmanship.
