Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Art Deco Tray #321

A hand hammered rare Georg Jensen Art Deco sterling silver drinks tray #321, designed by Johan Rohde. Design #321 is also referred to as the “Schilling” pattern, inspired by the English coin. This extremely beautiful tray features a round center with an elevated stepped border and two raised handles. The elevated rim not only enhances the sculptural quality of the tray but also gives it a refined architectural appearance characteristic of Rohde’s early Art Deco designs. The handles are formed as simple intertwined scroll rods, each hosting two Schilling-inspired round disks. The hand hammered surface reflects light beautifully, emphasizing the craftsmanship and elegant proportions of the piece. This is only the third tray in this design that we have ever owned. Very few examples were produced, most likely due to the complexity and labor intensive fabrication required to create such an exceptional tray.
