Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Art Deco Tea Set 672
This exception and important early Art Deco Georg Jensen tea set presents a rare and beautifully cohesive example of the silversmith’s craftsmanship during the transitional period between Jensen’s organic Art Nouveau roots and the emerging geometric elegance of Art Deco design. Hand-hammered surfaces, sculptural silhouettes, and the distinctive use of ebony fittings create a harmonious blend of softness and structure—characteristics highly sought after by collectors of early 20th-century Danish silver.
The set comprises:
- Kettle on stand with burner,
- Teapot
- Coffee pot
- Creamer
- Sugar bowl
- Tea strainer
- Original oval tray with ebony handles 23″ (58,5cm)
Weight: Combined weight including ebony handles is 6684 grams (235oz).
Each piece exhibits Jensen’s signature hand-hammered finish, producing a subtle ripple effect that softens light reflections and highlights the silversmith’s meticulous workmanship. The bold, curved ebony handles not only serve as a striking design element but also provide excellent heat resistance and balance. The kettle’s elegant arching handle, the rounded and generously formed pots, and the refined stepped detailing at the ferrules all contribute to the set’s unmistakable Jensen character. This early design predates many of the more streamlined Art Deco interpretations of the 1930s, making it an important historical example of Jensen’s evolving design language.
Complete sets of this scale and period are increasingly uncommon—especially with the original matching tray—making this an outstanding acquisition for both collectors and connoisseurs of Scandinavian decorative arts.
All our items have been professionally polished by our Georg Jensen trained silversmith and are in excellent condition.
