Georg Jensen Sterling Antique Pill Box 79

An antique sterling silver hinged Georg Jensen pill box, design no. 79 by Georg Jensen from 1918. The box is formed in two halves joined by a hinge. This is the first example we have encountered with a hinge, suggesting it may represent the original design, which was later produced as a non-hinged pill box. The lid features a centrally placed, hand-chased floral motif, with additional hand-chased decoration along the outer edge.

• Dimensions: 1 1/2 in. (3.7 cm) diameter × 5/8 in. (1.5 cm) height
• Hallmarks: Antique Georg Jensen hallmarks with a 1923 date stamp.
• Provenance: From a member of the Georg Jensen family. Full provenance available upon request, with respect for the family member’s privacy.
