Georg Jensen Pair of Sterling Silver Grape Bottle Coaster 229

A pair of very early sterling silver Georg Jensen wine coasters, design #229 “Grapes” from 1917 showcases meticulous craftsmanship. The circular raised body features an intricately assembled fruiting vine motif, emphasizing individual grapes instead of casting. The turned mahogany base adds warmth, and the hand chasing, along with original oxidation, enhances the coaster’s unique character. These rare pieces beautifully blends functionality and artistry, epitomizing the distinctive style of Georg Jensen’s early work during the Art Nouveau era. Both items display hallmarks from the design period, a rarity in itself.
