Georg Jensen Pair of Sterling Silver Bottle Coasters 289

A rare set of sterling silver Georg Jensen “Grape” bottle coasters, featuring a removable sterling silver liner, crafted in design #289 by Georg Jensen in 1919. These coasters boast a circular hand-chased elevate base, adorned with an openwork motif depicting grapes, stems, and leaves. The rim showcases intricate handcrafted detailing, reminiscent of Johan Rohde’s signature edge work found in various designs, suggesting a collaborative effort between Georg Jensen and Johan Rohde, despite being credited solely to Georg Jensen. Each coaster is equipped with a hand-cut and chased removable liner. Noteworthy are the early hallmarks dating back to the time of design and the fact that this offering consists of a pair (2). One liner date stamp after 1945, suggesting this replace a lost liner.

  • Dimensions: Each coaster measures 3 3/4″ in height and has a diameter of 4 7/8″ (9.5cm, 12.4cm).
  • Hallmarks: Period hallmarks dating from 1919-1927, indicative of the earliest examples of this design.
  • Weight: Combined weight of 930 grams (32.80 oz).

*The price is for the pair (2)
