Georg Jensen No. 849B Sterling Silver Charger Plates, Set of 12 – Sigvard Bernadotte
A rare set of twelve Georg Jensen Art Deco sterling silver charger plates, design no. 849B by Sigvard Bernadotte, introduced in 1939.
This exceptional model demonstrates remarkable craftsmanship and technical sophistication, which explains its rarity on today’s vintage market—relatively few were produced due to the complexity of their construction. Each charger features a hand-raised central plate with a refined rim, seamlessly set within a substantial, thick outer border enhanced by an applied secondary rim. The intricate fabrication is best appreciated from the reverse, where the masterful assembly of components becomes evident.
Considered one of the finest Art Deco charger designs created by Georg Jensen, a complete set of twelve represents an extraordinarily scarce and desirable offering for collectors.
