Georg Jensen Mid- Century Sterling Silver Centerpiece 1086
An early, large, and exceptionally rare Mid-Century sterling silver centerpiece by Georg Jensen, design #1086 by Soren Georg Jensen in 1960. This striking piece rests on an oval foot that is hand-forged, ensuring the outer ring flows seamlessly into the tray, preserving the free-flowing design. The tray itself is a two-sided rectangular form with upturned ends that are integral to the centerpiece; the shorter sides of the tray remain open. The tray’s central section is set lower than its sides, indicating a combination of machinery and extensive hand hammering in its creation, a testament to the skill of the silversmiths involved.
Originally crafted in sterling silver, this piece is now predominantly produced in stainless steel by Georg Jensen for broader distribution. This sterling silver version is among the earliest and few ever made, distinguished by its breathtaking reflection and color. A rare opportunity to acquire a piece of Danish Mid-century history.
