Georg Jensen Large Sterling Silver Grapes Tazza 264A

A large early vintage Georg Jensen sterling silver grapes tazza or compote, design #264A from 1918 by Georg Jensen. A round, hand-raised hammered large basin bowl with a wreath of ten handcrafted hanging grapes attached to a grapevine branch. The center column features a hand-chased vine motif with berry decorations, leading to a hand-raised hammered foot. This very early piece emphasizes handcraftsmanship, in contrast to later models that include many cast parts. The absence of casting is evident in the grapes, which are individually welded one berry at a time and vary in size, giving the piece a more organic look.
