Georg Jensen “Cherry” Centerpiece Bowl 501

This is a large and heavy sterling silver Georg Jensen oval “Cherry” centerpiece bowl. This is one of Georg Jensen’s later designs, from a brief period in 1925-1926 when he lived in Paris. The bowl is a heavy thick oval shape that bulges out at the side and is finished at the top with a rounded rim. The foot is twelve-sided and raised on an oval pedestal, with a pearl edge where it meets the bowl. There are two hollow handles, each with three cherries hanging underneath.

Measures 14″ in length across the handles and 5 3/4″ in height (36cm, 14.3cm). The actual bowl measures at the rim 9 3/4″ x 7 3/4″ (24.7cm x 19.8cm). Weighs 4lbs (1.83kg)!
