.Centerpiece No. 1053, Designed by Henning Koppel
An exceptional and highly collectible Mid Century Modern centerpiece in sterling silver, design no. 1053 by the celebrated Danish designer Henning Koppel, originally conceived circa 1956. This striking three sided form exemplifies Koppel’s mastery of organic, sculptural design, its fluid, freeform contours pushing the limits of silversmithing craftsmanship.
Produced in extremely limited numbers, fewer than ten examples are believed to exist, this piece is as rare as it is visually compelling. Its bold, asymmetrical silhouette and mirror polished surface create a dynamic interplay of light and reflection, making it both a functional object and a work of art.
- Measuring 24 3/8″ x 14 1/4″ x 3″ (63 x 36.5 x 7.5 cm)
- Hallmarks: Georg Jensen hallmarks along with date code L11 (2009). It is additionally stamped “M. Birkefeldt,” from a short lived period when master silversmiths were permitted to sign their work. Michael Birkefeldt, a third generation Georg Jensen artisan, further enhances the significance and provenance of this remarkable piece.
