Georg Jensen Blossom Sterling Silver Sandwich Tongs 251

A rare pair of sterling silver Georg Jensen sandwich tongs, item no. 251 in the Blossom pattern, designed by Georg Jensen in 1919. This exceptional and uncommon version features a hand-chased turtle concealing the screw mechanism that joins the shears together.

A generously sized pair of serving tongs, the rounded handles fit comfortably around the thumb and finger. Each opposing side is decorated with a single Blossom floral motif. At the center is a sculptural turtle figure on one side, while the reverse features an enclosed screw accented by surrounding beadwork. The squared ends of the tongs make serving and picking up food especially easy and practical.
