Extremely Rare Signed Georg Jensen Silver Candlesticks
An extremely rare pair of signed Georg Jensen candlesticks with an important provenance. In the last 10 years of his life, from 1925 to 1935, Georg Jensen produced his own pieces after leaving the Jensen company. All of Georg Jensen’s works in these years were hand crafted, as the Jensen silver smithy was primitive. Many of these pieces have a Georg Jensen inscribed signature on them. During this period, Georg Jensen worked with 830 silver as well as 925 silver. One can also see Jensen’s transitioning from his well-known Art Nouveau style to Art Deco. Most of these designs were produced in limited numbers and some are unique works of art. These candlesticks are a collector’s item and museum worthy. Georg Jensen died in 1935.
Design: A hand forged round base that elevates to a sculptural form base which holds the stem. The stem has a single lower ring and then another two rings with embedded beads. The upper part of the stem is a hand chased floral design resembling overlapping leaves.
