Exceedingly Rare Art Deco Sterling Silver Bar Set
An important and exceptionally rare Art Deco/Functionalism Danish 830 sterling silver bar and coffee set, designed by Rolf Frithjof Bratland (1932-1974). This early and museum-quality set, with all piece’s date-stamped 1941, represents the design period of its time. The set comes from a private estate, adding to its historical significance. It includes an extra-large tray with curved handles and a deco/functionalist-style column base edge. The large, square coffee pot features a matching design lid, an exaggerated spout, a handcrafted hollow handle, and a Bakelite divider serving as an insulator. The creamer and sugar are also designed in square and rectangular shapes, reflecting the same base design.
The cocktail shaker, reminiscent of a military flask, is square shaped with a removable column lid and strainer. The smaller martini sifter pitcher is also square and features a hand-cut top, perfect for making martinis “shaken, not stirred.” The 1941 date stamp on all pieces elevates this set to a historical collector’s item.
