Early Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Large Coffee/Water Kettle 88

A large and early sterling silver Georg Jensen coffee/hot water kettle, design #88 by Georg Jensen, dating to 1915. The kettle features a substantial organic bean shaped body supported by a large round foot with hand chased branch like decoration. Above the foot is a decorative middle section with applied floral petals. The bold spout follows the contour of the body and terminates in a heart shaped opening.

The domed lid, crowned with a carved ebony finial, is decorated with delicate silver inlaid floral work. The finely hand carved ebony handle features a sculptural floral thumb rest, combining both elegance and practicality. A remarkable large scale piece that would have required extensive hand craftsmanship to produce, offered in excellent vintage condition.
