Early Georg Jensen Silver Coffee Service 88
An early silver Georg Jensen three-piece coffee service, design #88 by Georg Jensen, dating to 1915. The coffee pot features an elegant organic bean-shaped body supported by a large round foot with hand-chased branch-like decoration. Above the foot is a decorative middle section adorned with applied floral petals. The domed lid, crowned with a finely carved ebony finial, is embellished with delicate silver inlaid floral work. The beautifully hand-carved ebony handle incorporates a sculptural floral thumb rest, combining artistry with functionality, while the elongated spout pours exceptionally well.
The large lidded sugar bowl follows the same refined design language as the coffee pot, featuring hand-carved wing-like floral ebony handles and matching decorative details throughout. The creamer is equally elegant, with a graceful flowing form and a carved ebony handle that complements the rest of the service perfectly.
A rare and beautifully crafted early Georg Jensen service, displaying the exceptional level of hand craftsmanship associated with the firm’s earliest works.
