Antique Georg Jensen Grapes Bottle Coaster 229

An extremely early sterling silver Georg Jensen “Grapes” bottle coaster with mahogany lining, design #229 by Georg Jensen from 1922. Decorated with an applied fruiting vine to the circular raised body with inset turned mahogany base. There is a great deal of  handcraftsmanship on the antique piece. The grapes are individually assembled verses being casted. The hand chasing is very pronounced as well as the original oxidation. This coaster is a bit larger and deeper then the one that has been produced in the later years.

Dimensions: Measures 2½” in height and 5 3/4″ in diameter (6.4cm, 14.5cm). Approximate gross weight 17.88oz (507g).

Hallmarks: Antique Georg Jensen hallmark, also marked with both Danish and Swedish import hallmarks for 1922.
