Danish Butterfly Arts and Crafts Silver Tea Strainer and Base
An early Danish silver tea strainer with its matching stand, made in 1920 in the charming Butterfly (Sommerfugl) pattern. This sought-after Danish Arts & Crafts design has been out of production for many years and is particularly desirable as a complete set with both pieces dating from the same year.
The strainer is beautifully handcrafted with a gently hand-hammered surface and individually hand-cut drainage holes. The handle is richly decorated with chased details and terminates in a large sculptural butterfly.
The matching round stand is also lightly hand-hammered and raised on three beautifully detailed butterfly-form feet, echoing the decoration of the strainer handle. Finding the strainer together with its original matching stand is uncommon.
