Old Danish/Dobbeltriflet
Designed in 1947 by Harald Nielsen, this is his interpretation of the traditional Danish pattern “Dobbeltriflet”. According to a Jensen brochure at the time, “Nielsen has succeeded in keeping the brilliant simplicity in decoration, while giving it a shape that both harmonizes with its classical heritage, and is completely contemporary.”
Art Deco, short for Arts Décoratifs, is an artistic design period that flourished between 1920 and 1939. The style was inspired by Constructivism, Cubism, Modernism, Bauhaus, Art Nouveau and Futurism. Art Deco pieces are characterized by bold colors, geometric shapes, and decadent details. The style carries an emphasis on elegance and function, without using historical references.
