Cypress/Cypres
Designed in 1953 and released in 1954, Norwegian Designer Tias Eckhoff’s Cypress was the winning design in a competition for the 50th anniversary of Georg Jensen Silversmith. It was an instant success, with sales at the time even surpassing their otherwise best-selling Acorn pattern. There were 49 pieces made in this pattern, with several pieces having double functions, e.g. The bouillon spoon is also the jam spoon.
Art Nouveau is an artistic design period that flourished in Europe from 1890 to 1910. The style was inspired by national romanticism and the curves and ornamental details of nature. Art Nouveau pieces are often characterized by organic lines and forms.
