Continental/Antik
Introduced in 1906, the Continental pattern is the first complete flatware pattern designed by Jensen. It is a stark contrast to the extremely decorative Art Nouveau designs of the time, the only decorations are the horizontal lines and the reflective sheen of the hammered surface of the silver. The Danish name is “Antik”.
Art Nouveau is an artistic design period that flourished in Europe from 1890 to 1910. The style was inspired by national romanticism and the curves and ornamental details of nature. Art Nouveau pieces are often characterized by organic lines and forms.
