Oskar M. Sorensen
1898 - 1987
Born in Bergen, Norway, Oskar Sorensen trained as a goldsmith in Oslo at The State School for Arts & Crafts and Industrial Design. He was very influenced by his mentor Jakob Prytz, who was artistic director at J. Tostrup, and was employed there from 1922-1957 as a goldsmith and designer.
He won the Norwegian Guild of Industrial Arts Prize in 1932.
From 1957 he became a design consultant at Nordic Aluminium Industry and lead the goldsmith line at The State School for Arts & Crafts and Industrial Design until his retirement in 1965.
