Erik Magnussen
1940 - 2014
Born in Charlottenlund, Denmark in 1940, Erik Magnussen graduated from the Copenhagen School of Applied Arts in 1960. Magnussen's preferred medium was ceramics, which he was encouraged to pursue already in his school years by his headmaster. He had his own design studio, designing ceramics, glass, cutlery and furniture. Along the way he designed for Bing & Grondahl, Stelton and Georg Jensen. His best known design is the EM77 thermos jug for Stelton from 1977. He has won many awards, including the Lunning Prize in 1967, he was recognized in 2001 by the Royal Society of Art, London. His work is in the collections of several prominent museums, including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
